La Grange Lane
This client has a French background and a very specific style they were interested in pursuing. This award winning, uniquely-designed custom home sits on a large lot in a private enclave. Taking specific design cues and requests from the Owner, we blended their wishes into a specific and comprehensive French-Provincial styled estate with 2 main floors and a full basement. The all-stone veneer home has an attached 3-car garage as well as a circular drive with parking for guests. Design features include a custom Entry & Foyer, lavish Kitchen (in consultation with a wonderful Kitchen Designer), custom Master Suite, and a Screen Porch overlooking an outdoor patio/dining area.
Shaker Residence Addition
This project entailed a couple of additions to a historic home located near Shakertown. Originally constructed by Shakers and fully restored, this home is currently occupied by a family that is part of Historic Shakertown’s current administration. Thus it was important to follow Shaker detailing and techniques. This project included a large Master Bedroom Suite addition and a Kitchen expansion and renovation. There were also many technical details to overcome including water mitigation, a shallow basement, and other water issues related to a nearby stream.
Mount Horeb
This large estate was designed in a sprawling Country-French style. It contains 2 upper levels and a full basement. There is a large, 4-car semi-detached garage across from a pull-through carport. There are 2 dramatic stairs to the upper level including one in a cylindrical turret with clerestory windows. This project won a home builder award.
Holiday Road
This unique home begins with an interesting story. After being out of town for a few years, our Client moved back into town and wanted to buy their former historic residence back, but the new Owners were not interested in selling. So our Client bought another home and hired us to design a reconstruction of their former historic home. It has 2 levels and a basement and while many aspects of the former home were recreated, other aspects such as the Master Suite and Bedrooms were designed anew. Following traditional detailing such as wood shake roofing, half-round copper gutters, and “butternut” woodworking in the Library, this project was both a challenge and a lot of fun. The design features a circular drive, tall 2-car carport (that also doubles as an outdoor entertaining area), formal living & dining rooms, library, butler’s pantry, master suite with 2 unique bathrooms, and several guest rooms suites.
Historic Danville Screen Porch Addition
This is a good example of a small, tasteful project done well. The Owners of this historic home in Danville sought to create a Screen Porch addition but wanted it to look more like a traditional porch that detailed sympathetically to existing details elsewhere on the home. Our solution was successful by placing the framing for the screen porch just behind the main porch columns and painting it a dark green color (that matched other exterior details on the home). The porch roof also had recessed skylights directly over existing arched transom windows to sustain a high level of natural light in the existing portions of the home.
